Prominent Baltimore County Attorney Announces Bid for State Delegate's Office

Towson, MD – Prominent Baltimore County
attorney Jack Sturgill, Jr. announces his
intent to file as a democrat for the office of
state delegate in Maryland’s 7th legislative
district, which covers Baltimore and Harford
Counties.
The life-long Baltimore County resident brings
an insider’s knowledge of government to the
race, having served as special assistant
attorney general. He also served as assistant
county attorney – chief of the real property
section in Baltimore County from January of
1977 through April of 1993.
Sturgill additionally was Baltimore County’s
legal coordinator for the American with
Disabilities Act, a position he held for a
number of years.
His experience as a public advocate includes
serving as a consumer representative on the
Maryland Board of Dental Examiners and the
Maryland Board of Nursing. He also has chaired
the Council of Boards and Commissions.
In private practice since 1975, the attorney
serves on the board of directors for the
Baltimore County Employees Federal Credit
Union. He additionally has served on boards of
other groups including Baltimore County
Development Corporation, a non-profit
corporation that fosters economic development
in Baltimore County, and the Hearing and Speech
Agency of Baltimore.
“I’m concerned that taxes are rising along with
the costs of health care. I want to see better
planning for growth and development. Everyone
wants to see an improvement in the quality of
our schools. We need someone who gets things
done in Annapolis,” says Sturgill, who helped
to re-establish the Glendale/Glenmont Community
Association and held various leadership roles
for this group.
Married for the past 30 years to Marcy, he is a
graduate of Calvert Hall, Towson University and
the University of Baltimore School of Law.
Sturgill also pursued graduate studies in urban
planning at The Johns Hopkins University. He
has shared his knowledge and talents as an
adjunct professor at Villa Julie College, and
visiting assistant professor at Towson
University and Loyola College’s graduateschool.
Sturgill resides in the Glen Arm section of
Baltimore County.
