Jack Sturgill Receives Teachers' Endorsement
Friday, June 23, 2006
The endorsement of Jack Sturgill's candidacy
for the House of Delegates was announced by The
Maryland State Teachers Association. The
official endorsement was made by The Maryland
State Teachers Association (MSTA) by ratifying
the recommendation of The Teachers Association
of Baltimore County (TABCO) and Baltimore
Assistants and Clerical Employees (BASE).
MSTA represents about 65,000 teachers and
support staff, serving as the umbrella
organization for the State of Maryland. TABCO
represents over 6,000 Baltimore County public
school teachers; and BACE represents over 800
clerical and support personnel in the Baltimore
County public schools.
Jack Sturgill's democratic House of Delegates
bid is further enhanced by the addition of Pat
Foerster, former head of the MSTA. Foerster is
running for the democratic State Senate seat in
the same 7th legislative district as Sturgill.
Sturgill said, "Having been a high school
teacher, I am honored by this endorsement from
the people in the school system who truly
understand the trials, hard work and long hours
it takes to provide our students with a solid,
quality education."
